WBC-INCO.NET Consultation Session on Agro Food

Public
Date and Time: 15 January 2009–16 January 2009
Venue: CITY hotel, Podgorica, Montenegro

Within Work Package 2 (Priority setting to structure participation in FP), the consultation session in the field of AgroFood was held in Podgorica/Montenegro on January 15 and 16, 2009.

It was the second consultation session in a series of five, dedicated to different research fields (ICT, AgroFood, Health, Transport and Environment). National delegations from the Western Balkan countries nominated by the Western Balkan project partners and composed of different stakeholders from the region had the opportunity to discuss areas of common interest in the field of AgroFood research, thus providing the basis for future common activities. Scientists, policy makers, NCPs, experts, consultants and representatives froms SMEs took part in the event. Regional research priorities were agreed upon based on the results of the FP6 project BAFN (Balkan Agro Food Network, http://www.europartnersearch.net/bafn/index.php). Information on current activities within the FP7 Theme "Agriculture, Food, Biotechnology" and its Work Programmes were given by an NCP. Furthermore, the participants were also informed about existing initiatives and networks in this field (Era-Net, Technology Platform), thanks to the invited experts.

The event was hosted by the Montenegrin partners of WBC-INCO.NET: the Montenegrin Ministry of Education and Science, and project partners involved in the priority setting process also took part in the event.

As a result, some of the defined research priorities were taken up in the Joint Call of the SEE-ERA.NET PLUS project, launched on September 1, 2009 (http://plus.see-era.net/pjc/index.html).
