A new Candidate to EU Accession: Croatia “S&T developments”

The report provides a general overview of Croatia as a new candidate of EU Accession within the framework of the current status of scientific and technological development. The document contains the general information of the country, national economy and economic indicators as of 2003 as well as the history of the EU-Croatia relations.Substantial part of the report is dedicated to the science and technology (S&T) policy as far as its framework, role and objectives, indicators, coordination and promotion by EU and other agencies, national research priorities and specific RTD cooperation schemes in the country are concerned.The national science and technology base is touched upon: the science and technology in universities and national institutes is presented. The annex lists scientific bodies conducting R&D in Croatia and outlines the main actors of the S&T policy.
